It is with heavy heart that we announce the closing and relocating of C.W. Feed.
We have received an offer for the land that we could not refuse and this will hopefully permit us to regain some of our loss, that we incurred during our struggle with the city. At this time we cannot release the buyer’s name, but we can state that it’s NOT, I repeat NOT, a developer. The new owner will be a benefit to the surrounding community and the city in general.
We will just say the Lord answers prayers in some very surprising ways. Especially after putting such an extremely heavy load on our shoulders for so long. But, we still thank him daily for what we have and had.
This has not been an easy decision to make. As many of you are aware, in the past, we have had many business setbacks initiated by the City of Rancho Cucamonga. These setbacks required us to retain and pay massive bills for a few attorneys. This with massive other costs, City stipulated upgrades and more, has made it extremely difficult to continue operating a small business in the community we love.
All this, together with the loss of our annual Pumpkin Patch, forced decrease in firewood storage / sales, Plus the loss of our annual baby chick and accessories, due to the Newcastle Disease outbreak/ quarantine, that resulted in a severe decrease in adult birds and egg production.
This all equals a major drop in feed, supplies and overall sales and more. We have also struggled with the loss of sales due to “Online” shopping, that we just can not compete with.
These issues finally took their toll on the family, not only drained us financially, but also mentally.
We were lucky enough to get a Peterbilt and Curtis is now back working as an over the road truck driver, just trying to salvage what we have left and keep our home in this community.
In October, we will be celebrating our 10th anniversary This, making it a bittersweet time. Until the closing date, some time in November or December, we will continue to provide the service that you expect from us the best we can and hope you will understand and support us and most of all our VERY loyal employees.
We intend to relocate but, we can not put anything in stone until we are further along in escrow. This also greatly depends on the City issuing a C.U.P. (Conditional use permit) to the new owners.
As the business winds down, we will notify you of all special sales, offering discounts on all items. We hope you will stop by the store and take advantage of these savings when that time comes
Finally, we would be remiss if we did not give tremendous credit and appreciation to all our employees, Violet, Jose, Pepe and Ron. It is their product knowledge and customer service that proved to be a major contribution to the success of C.W. Feed and we hope will be again, at our new location.
From the bottom of our hearts we genuinely thank you all for being loyal supporters of the store and to us personally. We can not fully express our deepest gratitude for your support, which has been nothing but an absolute pleasure.
We are / were the VERY last rural FAMILY owned Farm, Feed and Pet Supply within 20+ miles and for sure the last in this city, possibly for ever.
We will miss you all, until next time, next location.
Curtis, Wendy, Kara and Kelly Pitts.
C.W. Feed & Pet Supply
P.S. For those that never knew, C.W. stood for Curtis and Wendy.
