It’s that time of the year when vacations are planned. Depending on the destination your dog may not be able to travel with you. That means your dog may have to be boarded at a local kennel.
One question that the facility will ask you concerns up-to-date vaccination records for your pet. Without these, the facility may not be able to accept your dog.
At C.W. Feed we offer Canine Imuno-Vax. This is single dose easy to administer vaccine that owners give their dogs. The vaccine is a combo shot that aids in the reduction of diseases caused by canine distemper, canine adenovirus type 1 and type 2, parainfluenza, and parvovirus in susceptible dogs and puppies.
The vaccine comes complete with full instructions on how to administer.
We carry the Canine Imuno-Vax 5 and the Canine Imuno-Vax 9. Please review charts below for the best one for your dog. If you have any questions please call us at 909-944-9427.
In addition we also stock the Bordetella (Kennel Cough) vaccine. That is usually required for boarding and grooming too.
Boarding can be stressful, you will want to make sure your pet is in comfortable surroundings with caring staff. You are an advocate for your pet so that means researching the right boarding facility ahead of time.
Visit several facilities and get a guided tour to see where your dog will be staying and playing. Don’t be afraid to ask questions.
Does the facility have:
-Staff onsite 24 hours a day?
-Carbon monoxide detectors, a sprinkler system, or back-up power generator?
-A vet on staff to handle any medical emergencies?
-Common areas where dogs socialize and are play groups grouped together by size/temperament and monitored at all times?
Remember, do your homework, get the right vaccinations and ask the right questions to ensure your pet is safe and sound while you’re on vacation. Make boarding a vacation for your dog too!
